What to say during the call to prayer and after it ends.
لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ
There is no strength or power except through Allah.
When the caller says “Hayya ‘ala as-salah” and “Hayya ‘ala al-falah”, say this in place of those words (Umar).
In brief: The report ends by saying that whoever responds to the call in this way, from the heart, enters Paradise.
أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ رَضِيتُ بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولاً وَبِالإِسْلاَمِ دِينًا
I testify that Allah alone deserves worship, with no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger. I am content with Allah as Lord, Muhammad as messenger and Islam as religion.
When you hear the caller to prayer (Sa‘d ibn Abi Waqqas).
In brief: The report says his sins are forgiven.
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ، وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ، اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ، وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ
Allah, honour Muhammad ﷺ and his family, as You honoured Ibrahim and his family. All praise and glory are Yours. Allah, bless Muhammad ﷺ and his family, as You blessed Ibrahim and his family. All praise and glory are Yours.
After repeating the caller, send blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ (Abdullah ibn Amr). This report specifies no wording; this form is one he taught (Bukhari 3370).
In brief: The report says Allah sends ten blessings for one blessing upon the Prophet ﷺ.
اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ وَالصَّلاَةِ الْقَائِمَةِ آتِ مُحَمَّدًا الْوَسِيلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا الَّذِي وَعَدْتَهُ
Allah, Lord of this complete call and the prayer being established, grant Muhammad the wasila and excellence, and raise him to the praiseworthy station You promised him.
On hearing the call to prayer, after repeating the caller and sending blessings (Jabir).
In brief: The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever says this becomes entitled to his intercession on the Day of Resurrection.
