88. Al-Ghashiyaالغاشية

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَـٰشِيَةِ١1

   Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]?

   Listen from ayah 1
2. وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ٢2

   [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled,

   Listen from ayah 2
3. عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ٣3

   Working [hard] and exhausted.^[1910]

   Listen from ayah 3
4. تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً٤4

   They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire.

   Listen from ayah 4
5. تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ٥5

   They will be given drink from a boiling spring.

   Listen from ayah 5
6. لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ٦6

   For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant

   Listen from ayah 6
7. لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ٧7

   Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger.

   Listen from ayah 7
8. وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ٨8

   [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure.

   Listen from ayah 8
9. لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ٩9

   With their effort [they are] satisfied

   Listen from ayah 9
10. فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ١٠10

    In an elevated garden,

    Listen from ayah 10
11. لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَـٰغِيَةً١١11

    Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech.^[1911]

12. فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ١٢12

    Within it is a flowing spring.

    Listen from ayah 12
13. فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ١٣13

    Within it are couches raised high

    Listen from ayah 13
14. وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ١٤14

    And cups put in place

    Listen from ayah 14
15. وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ١٥15

    And cushions lined up

    Listen from ayah 15
16. وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ١٦16

    And carpets spread around.

17. أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ١٧17

    Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created?

    Listen from ayah 17
18. وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ١٨18

    And at the sky - how it is raised?

    Listen from ayah 18
19. وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ١٩19

    And at the mountains - how they are erected?

    Listen from ayah 19
20. وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ٢٠20

    And at the earth - how it is spread out?

    Listen from ayah 20
21. فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ٢١21

    So remind, [O Muḥammad]; you are only a reminder.

22. لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ٢٢22

    You are not over them a controller.

    Listen from ayah 22
23. إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ٢٣23

    However, he who turns away and disbelieves –

    Listen from ayah 23
24. فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ٢٤24

    Then Allāh will punish him with the greatest punishment.

25. إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ٢٥25

    Indeed, to Us is their return.

    Listen from ayah 25
26. ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم٢٦26

    Then indeed, upon Us is their account.
