83. Al-Mutaffifinالمطففين

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ١1

   Woe to those who give less [than due],^[1878]

   Listen from ayah 1
2. ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ٢2

   Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full.

   Listen from ayah 2
3. وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ٣3

   But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss.

   Listen from ayah 3
4. أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ٤4

   Do they not think that they will be resurrected

   Listen from ayah 4
5. لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ٥5

   For a tremendous Day -

   Listen from ayah 5
6. يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ٦6

   The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds?

   Listen from ayah 6
7. كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ٧7

   No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen.

   Listen from ayah 7
8. وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ٨8

   And what can make you know what is sijjeen?

   Listen from ayah 8
9. كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ٩9

   It is [their destination^[1879] recorded in] a register inscribed.

   Listen from ayah 9
10. وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ١٠10

    Woe, that Day, to the deniers,

    Listen from ayah 10
11. ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ١١11

    Who deny the Day of Recompense.

    Listen from ayah 11
12. وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ١٢12

    And none deny it except every sinful transgressor.

    Listen from ayah 12
13. إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ١٣13

    When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples."

    Listen from ayah 13
14. كَلَّاۖ بَلْۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ١٤14

    No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.^[1880]

    Listen from ayah 14
15. كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ١٥15

    No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned.^[1881]

16. ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ١٦16

    Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire.

    Listen from ayah 16
17. ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ١٧17

    Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny."

    Listen from ayah 17
18. كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ١٨18

    No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in ʿilliyyūn.

    Listen from ayah 18
19. وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ١٩19

    And what can make you know what is ʿilliyyūn?

    Listen from ayah 19
20. كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ٢٠20

    It is [their destination^[1882] recorded in] a register inscribed

    Listen from ayah 20
21. يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ٢١21

    Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allāh].

22. إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ٢٢22

    Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure

    Listen from ayah 22
23. عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ٢٣23

    On adorned couches, observing.

    Listen from ayah 23
24. تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ٢٤24

    You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure.

25. يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ٢٥25

    They will be given to drink [pure] wine^[1883] [which was] sealed.

26. خِتَـٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌۚ وَفِى ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ٢٦26

    The last of it^[1884] is musk. So for this let the competitors compete.

27. وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ٢٧27

    And its mixture is of Tasneem,^[1885]

    Listen from ayah 27
28. عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ٢٨28

    A spring from which those near [to Allāh] drink.

    Listen from ayah 28
29. إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُونَ٢٩29

    Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.

30. وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ٣٠30

    And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances.

31. وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ٣١31

    And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting.

    Listen from ayah 31
32. وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ٣٢32

    And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost."

33. وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ٣٣33

    But they had not been sent as guardians over them.

34. فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ٣٤34

    So Today^[1886] those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers,

35. عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ٣٥35

    On adorned couches, observing.

36. هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ٣٦36

    Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do?
