78. An-Nabaالنبإ

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ١1

   About what are they asking one another?

   Listen from ayah 1
2. عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ٢2

   About the great news^[1821] -

   Listen from ayah 2
3. ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ٣3

   That over which they are in disagreement.

   Listen from ayah 3
4. كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ٤4

   No! They are going to know.

   Listen from ayah 4
5. ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ٥5

   Then, no! They are going to know.

   Listen from ayah 5
6. أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًا٦6

   Have We not made the earth a resting place?

   Listen from ayah 6
7. وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا٧7

   And the mountains as stakes?^[1822]

   Listen from ayah 7
8. وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا٨8

   And We created you in pairs

   Listen from ayah 8
9. وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا٩9

   And made your sleep [a means for] rest

   Listen from ayah 9
10. وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا١٠10

    And made the night as clothing^[1823]

    Listen from ayah 10
11. وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا١١11

    And made the day for livelihood

    Listen from ayah 11
12. وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا١٢12

    And constructed above you seven strong [heavens]

    Listen from ayah 12
13. وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا١٣13

    And made [therein] a burning lamp

    Listen from ayah 13
14. وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا١٤14

    And sent down from the rain clouds pouring water

    Listen from ayah 14
15. لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا١٥15

    That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation

    Listen from ayah 15
16. وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا١٦16

    And gardens of entwined growth.

    Listen from ayah 16
17. إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا١٧17

    Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time -

    Listen from ayah 17
18. يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا١٨18

    The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes

    Listen from ayah 18
19. وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًا١٩19

    And the heaven is opened and will become gateways

    Listen from ayah 19
20. وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا٢٠20

    And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage.

    Listen from ayah 20
21. إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا٢١21

    Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait

    Listen from ayah 21
22. لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًا٢٢22

    For the transgressors, a place of return,

    Listen from ayah 22
23. لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا٢٣23

    In which they will remain for ages [unending].

    Listen from ayah 23
24. لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا٢٤24

    They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink.

    Listen from ayah 24
25. إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا٢٥25

    Except scalding water and [foul] purulence -

    Listen from ayah 25
26. جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا٢٦26

    An appropriate recompense.^[1824]

    Listen from ayah 26
27. إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا٢٧27

    Indeed, they were not expecting an account

    Listen from ayah 27
28. وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا٢٨28

    And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial.

    Listen from ayah 28
29. وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًا٢٩29

    But all things We have enumerated in writing.

    Listen from ayah 29
30. فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا٣٠30

    "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment."^[1825]

    Listen from ayah 30
31. إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا٣١31

    Indeed, for the righteous is attainment^[1826] -

32. حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًا٣٢32

    Gardens and grapevines

    Listen from ayah 32
33. وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا٣٣33

    And young women [companions] of equal age.

    Listen from ayah 33
34. وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا٣٤34

    And a full cup.^[1827]

    Listen from ayah 34
35. لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًا٣٥35

    No ill speech will they hear therein or any falsehood -

    Listen from ayah 35
36. جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا٣٦36

    [As] reward from your Lord, [a generous] gift [made due by] account,^[1828]

    Listen from ayah 36
37. رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا٣٧37

    [From] the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Most Merciful. They possess not from Him [authority for] speech.^[1829]

38. يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّاۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا٣٨38

    The Day that the Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speak except for one whom the Most Merciful permits, and he will say what is correct.

39. ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا٣٩39

    That is the True [i.e., certain] Day; so he who wills may take to his Lord a [way of] return.^[1830]

40. إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا٤٠40

    Indeed, We have warned you of an impending punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth^[1831] and the disbeliever will say, "Oh, I wish that I were dust!"
