86. At-Tariqالطارق

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ١1

   By the sky and the knocker

   Listen from ayah 1
2. وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ٢2

   And what can make you know what is the knocker?

   Listen from ayah 2
3. ٱلنَّجْمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ٣3

   It is the piercing star^[1901].

4. إِن كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ٤4

   There is no soul but that it has over it a protector.

   Listen from ayah 4
5. فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ٥5

   So let man observe from what he was created.

   Listen from ayah 5
6. خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٍ دَافِقٍ٦6

   He was created from a fluid, ejected,

   Listen from ayah 6
7. يَخْرُجُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ ٱلصُّلْبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ٧7

   Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.

   Listen from ayah 7
8. إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٌ٨8

   Indeed, He [i.e., Allāh], to return him [to life], is Able.

   Listen from ayah 8
9. يَوْمَ تُبْلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ٩9

   The Day when secrets will be put on trial,^[1902]

   Listen from ayah 9
10. فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ١٠10

    Then he [i.e., man] will have no power or any helper.

    Listen from ayah 10
11. وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجْعِ١١11

    By the sky which sends back^[1903]

    Listen from ayah 11
12. وَٱلْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدْعِ١٢12

    And [by] the earth which splits,^[1904]

    Listen from ayah 12
13. إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ١٣13

    Indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a decisive statement,

    Listen from ayah 13
14. وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلْهَزْلِ١٤14

    And it is not amusement.

    Listen from ayah 14
15. إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًا١٥15

    Indeed, they are planning a plan,

    Listen from ayah 15
16. وَأَكِيدُ كَيْدًا١٦16

    But I am planning a plan.

    Listen from ayah 16
17. فَمَهِّلِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًۢا١٧17

    So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile.^[1905]
