81. At-Takwirالتكوير

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. إِذَا ٱلشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ١1

   When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]

   Listen from ayah 1
2. وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتْ٢2

   And when the stars fall, dispersing,

   Listen from ayah 2
3. وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ٣3

   And when the mountains are removed

   Listen from ayah 3
4. وَإِذَا ٱلْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ٤4

   And when full-term she-camels^[1865] are neglected

   Listen from ayah 4
5. وَإِذَا ٱلْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ٥5

   And when the wild beasts are gathered

   Listen from ayah 5
6. وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ٦6

   And when the seas are filled with flame^[1866]

   Listen from ayah 6
7. وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ٧7

   And when the souls are paired^[1867]

   Listen from ayah 7
8. وَإِذَا ٱلْمَوْءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتْ٨8

   And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked

   Listen from ayah 8
9. بِأَىِّ ذَنۢبٍ قُتِلَتْ٩9

   For what sin she was killed

   Listen from ayah 9
10. وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ١٠10

    And when the pages^[1868] are spread [i.e., made public]

    Listen from ayah 10
11. وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتْ١١11

    And when the sky is stripped away

    Listen from ayah 11
12. وَإِذَا ٱلْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ١٢12

    And when Hellfire is set ablaze

    Listen from ayah 12
13. وَإِذَا ٱلْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ١٣13

    And when Paradise is brought near,

    Listen from ayah 13
14. عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْ١٤14

    A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it].^[1869]

    Listen from ayah 14
15. فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِ١٥15

    So I swear by the retreating stars -

    Listen from ayah 15
16. ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْكُنَّسِ١٦16

    Those that run [their courses] and disappear [i.e., set]

    Listen from ayah 16
17. وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ١٧17

    And by the night as it closes in^[1870]

    Listen from ayah 17
18. وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ١٨18

    And by the dawn when it breathes [i.e., stirs]

    Listen from ayah 18
19. إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ١٩19

    [That] indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger [i.e., Gabriel]

20. ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ٢٠20

    [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position],

    Listen from ayah 20
21. مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ٢١21

    Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy.

22. وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍ٢٢22

    And your companion [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ) ] is not [at all] mad.^[1871]

    Listen from ayah 22
23. وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ٢٣23

    And he has already seen him [i.e., Gabriel] in the clear horizon.^[1872]

24. وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ٢٤24

    And he [i.e., Muḥammad (ﷺ)] is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen.^[1873]

25. وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَـٰنٍ رَّجِيمٍ٢٥25

    And it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens].

26. فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ٢٦26

    So where are you going?^[1874]

    Listen from ayah 26
27. إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ٢٧27

    It is not except a reminder to the worlds

    Listen from ayah 27
28. لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ٢٨28

    For whoever wills among you to take a right course.

    Listen from ayah 28
29. وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ٢٩29

    And you do not will except that Allāh wills - Lord of the worlds.
