56. Al-Waqiaالواقعة

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ١1

   When the Occurrence occurs,

   Listen from ayah 1
2. لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ٢2

   There is, at its occurrence, no denial.

   Listen from ayah 2
3. خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌ٣3

   It will bring down [some] and raise up [others].^[1608]

   Listen from ayah 3
4. إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ رَجًّا٤4

   When the earth is shaken with convulsion

   Listen from ayah 4
5. وَبُسَّتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ بَسًّا٥5

   And the mountains are broken down, crumbling

   Listen from ayah 5
6. فَكَانَتْ هَبَآءً مُّنۢبَثًّا٦6

   And become dust dispersing,

   Listen from ayah 6
7. وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا ثَلَـٰثَةً٧7

   And you become [of] three kinds:

   Listen from ayah 7
8. فَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ٨8

   Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?^[1609]

   Listen from ayah 8
9. وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ٩9

   And the companions of the left - what are companions of the left?^[1610]

   Listen from ayah 9
10. وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ١٠10

    And the forerunners, the forerunners^[1611] -

    Listen from ayah 10
11. أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ١١11

    Those are the ones brought near [to Allāh]

    Listen from ayah 11
12. فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ١٢12

    In the Gardens of Pleasure,

    Listen from ayah 12
13. ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ١٣13

    A [large] company of the former peoples

    Listen from ayah 13
14. وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ١٤14

    And a few of the later peoples,

    Listen from ayah 14
15. عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّوْضُونَةٍ١٥15

    On thrones woven [with ornament],

    Listen from ayah 15
16. مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَـٰبِلِينَ١٦16

    Reclining on them, facing each other.

    Listen from ayah 16
17. يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ١٧17

    There will circulate among them young boys made eternal

    Listen from ayah 17
18. بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍ١٨18

    With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring -

    Listen from ayah 18
19. لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ١٩19

    No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated -

    Listen from ayah 19
20. وَفَـٰكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ٢٠20

    And fruit of what they select

    Listen from ayah 20
21. وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ٢١21

    And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire.

    Listen from ayah 21
22. وَحُورٌ عِينٌ٢٢22

    And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes,

    Listen from ayah 22
23. كَأَمْثَـٰلِ ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ ٱلْمَكْنُونِ٢٣23

    The likenesses of pearls well-protected,

    Listen from ayah 23
24. جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ٢٤24

    As reward for what they used to do.

    Listen from ayah 24
25. لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا٢٥25

    They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin -

    Listen from ayah 25
26. إِلَّا قِيلًا سَلَـٰمًا سَلَـٰمًا٢٦26

    Only a saying [of] peace, peace.

    Listen from ayah 26
27. وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ٢٧27

    The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?

    Listen from ayah 27
28. فِى سِدْرٍ مَّخْضُودٍ٢٨28

    [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed

    Listen from ayah 28
29. وَطَلْحٍ مَّنضُودٍ٢٩29

    And [banana] trees layered [with fruit]

    Listen from ayah 29
30. وَظِلٍّ مَّمْدُودٍ٣٠30

    And shade extended

    Listen from ayah 30
31. وَمَآءٍ مَّسْكُوبٍ٣١31

    And water poured out

    Listen from ayah 31
32. وَفَـٰكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ٣٢32

    And fruit, abundant [and varied],

    Listen from ayah 32
33. لَّا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ٣٣33

    Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden,

    Listen from ayah 33
34. وَفُرُشٍ مَّرْفُوعَةٍ٣٤34

    And [upon] beds raised high.

    Listen from ayah 34
35. إِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَـٰهُنَّ إِنشَآءً٣٥35

    Indeed, We have produced them [i.e., the women of Paradise] in a [new] creation

    Listen from ayah 35
36. فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا٣٦36

    And made them virgins,

    Listen from ayah 36
37. عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا٣٧37

    Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age,

    Listen from ayah 37
38. لِّأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ٣٨38

    For the companions of the right [who are]

    Listen from ayah 38
39. ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ٣٩39

    A company of the former peoples

    Listen from ayah 39
40. وَثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ٤٠40

    And a company of the later peoples.

    Listen from ayah 40
41. وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ٤١41

    And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left?

    Listen from ayah 41
42. فِى سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ٤٢42

    [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water

    Listen from ayah 42
43. وَظِلٍّ مِّن يَحْمُومٍ٤٣43

    And a shade of black smoke,

    Listen from ayah 43
44. لَّا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ٤٤44

    Neither cool nor beneficial.

    Listen from ayah 44
45. إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ٤٥45

    Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence,

    Listen from ayah 45
46. وَكَانُوا۟ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلْحِنثِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ٤٦46

    And they used to persist in the great violation,^[1612]

    Listen from ayah 46
47. وَكَانُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ٤٧47

    And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?

    Listen from ayah 47
48. أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ٤٨48

    And our forefathers [as well]?"

    Listen from ayah 48
49. قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ٤٩49

    Say, [O Muḥammad], "Indeed, the former and later peoples

    Listen from ayah 49
50. لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ٥٠50

    Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day."

    Listen from ayah 50
51. ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ٥١51

    Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers,

    Listen from ayah 51
52. لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرٍ مِّن زَقُّومٍ٥٢52

    Will be eating from trees of zaqqūm

    Listen from ayah 52
53. فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ٥٣53

    And filling with it your bellies

    Listen from ayah 53
54. فَشَـٰرِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْحَمِيمِ٥٤54

    And drinking on top of it from scalding water

    Listen from ayah 54
55. فَشَـٰرِبُونَ شُرْبَ ٱلْهِيمِ٥٥55

    And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels.

    Listen from ayah 55
56. هَـٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ٥٦56

    That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense.

    Listen from ayah 56
57. نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ٥٧57

    We have created you, so why do you not believe?

    Listen from ayah 57
58. أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ٥٨58

    Have you seen that which you emit?^[1613]

    Listen from ayah 58
59. ءَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ٥٩59

    Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator?

    Listen from ayah 59
60. نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ٦٠60

    We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone

    Listen from ayah 60
61. عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَـٰلَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِى مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ٦١61

    In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know.^[1614]

    Listen from ayah 61
62. وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ٦٢62

    And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember?

    Listen from ayah 62
63. أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ٦٣63

    And have you seen that [seed] which you sow?

    Listen from ayah 63
64. ءَأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ٦٤64

    Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower?

    Listen from ayah 64
65. لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ حُطَـٰمًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ٦٥65

    If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder,^[1615]

    Listen from ayah 65
66. إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ٦٦66

    [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt;

    Listen from ayah 66
67. بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ٦٧67

    Rather, we have been deprived."

    Listen from ayah 67
68. أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلْمَآءَ ٱلَّذِى تَشْرَبُونَ٦٨68

    And have you seen the water that you drink?

    Listen from ayah 68
69. ءَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ٦٩69

    Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?

    Listen from ayah 69
70. لَوْ نَشَآءُ جَعَلْنَـٰهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ٧٠70

    If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?

    Listen from ayah 70
71. أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى تُورُونَ٧١71

    And have you seen the fire that you ignite?

    Listen from ayah 71
72. ءَأَنتُمْ أَنشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَآ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ٧٢72

    Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer?

    Listen from ayah 72
73. نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَـٰهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَـٰعًا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ٧٣73

    We have made it a reminder^[1616] and provision for the travelers,^[1617]

    Listen from ayah 73
74. فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ٧٤74

    So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

    Listen from ayah 74
75. فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَٰقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ٧٥75

    Then I swear by the setting of the stars,^[1618]

    Listen from ayah 75
76. وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ٧٦76

    And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great.

    Listen from ayah 76
77. إِنَّهُۥ لَقُرْءَانٌ كَرِيمٌ٧٧77

    Indeed, it is a noble Qur’ān.

    Listen from ayah 77
78. فِى كِتَـٰبٍ مَّكْنُونٍ٧٨78

    In a Register well-protected;^[1619].

    Listen from ayah 78
79. لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ٧٩79

    None touch it except the purified [i.e., the angels].

    Listen from ayah 79
80. تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ٨٠80

    [It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

    Listen from ayah 80
81. أَفَبِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدْهِنُونَ٨١81

    Then is it to this statement that you are indifferent

    Listen from ayah 81
82. وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ٨٢82

    And make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider]?

    Listen from ayah 82
83. فَلَوْلَآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلْحُلْقُومَ٨٣83

    Then why, when it [i.e., the soul at death] reaches the throat

    Listen from ayah 83
84. وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنظُرُونَ٨٤84

    And you are at that time looking on -

    Listen from ayah 84
85. وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ٨٥85

    And We [i.e., Our angels] are nearer to him than you, but you do not see -

    Listen from ayah 85
86. فَلَوْلَآ إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ٨٦86

    Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed,

    Listen from ayah 86
87. تَرْجِعُونَهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ٨٧87

    Bring it back,^[1620] if you should be truthful?

    Listen from ayah 87
88. فَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ٨٨88

    And if he [i.e., the deceased] was of those brought near [to Allāh],

    Listen from ayah 88
89. فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ٨٩89

    Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure.

    Listen from ayah 89
90. وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ٩٠90

    And if he was of the companions of the right,

    Listen from ayah 90
91. فَسَلَـٰمٌ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ٩١91

    Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right."

    Listen from ayah 91
92. وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ٩٢92

    But if he was of the deniers [who were] astray,

    Listen from ayah 92
93. فَنُزُلٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ٩٣93

    Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding water

    Listen from ayah 93
94. وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ٩٤94

    And burning in Hellfire.

    Listen from ayah 94
95. إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ٩٥95

    Indeed, this is the true certainty,

    Listen from ayah 95
96. فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ٩٦96

    So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

    Listen from ayah 96
